One Block of Small Shops

Start on Ray St, between University Ave and North Park Way, where a single block packs in most of the neighborhood's makers. Artelexia (3803 Ray St) sells Mexican folk art, textiles, handbags and a large Día de Muertos selection, and its sister shop Casa y Cocina (3813 Ray St) has handcrafted Mexican kitchenware, tableware and Otomí textiles. Casa Palma Dulce (3830 Ray St, Suite B) is a self-care shop and botánica with candles, crystals and Talavera pieces. All three are open Mon–Sat 11am–6pm and Sun 11am–5pm.

On the same block, Revival Vintage Eyewear (3821 Ray St) has more than 500 unworn vintage frames from the 1960s to the 2000s and cuts prescription lenses the same day in its own lab. Hunt & Gather (3817 Ray St) and The Gold Dust Collective (3824 Ray St) mix vintage with new and handmade clothing, jewelry and art, and Replay Toys Boutique (3825 Ray St) is the toy stop. Hunt & Gather, Gold Dust and Replay don't post hours, so call ahead.

Books, Gifts, Sneakers and Cameras

Around the corner on 30th St, Pigment (3801 30th St) is the big gift and home shop, with candles, jewelry, kids' things and a houseplant section, open until 8pm Thursday to Saturday. Next door, Verbatim Books (3793 30th St) has more than 60,000 used and antiquarian titles plus zines and art prints; it buys and trades books on Mondays and Fridays, 11am–4pm.

Heading north, Overload (3827 30th St) sells limited-edition Nike SB, Jordan and New Balance Numeric shoes and skate decks, and George's Camera (3837 30th St) has cameras, lenses and film, with rentals, repairs and classes. Vintage, Beauty and Records

On University Ave, Day to Day Vintage (3063 University Ave, daily 11am–7pm) has hand-picked clothing from the 1940s to the 2000s, heavy on tees, outerwear and denim.
