Start on Prospect Street

The Village is small enough to see on foot in an afternoon. A loop locals recommend starts on Prospect St above the cove, cuts through Ivanhoe Ave and Herschel Ave, and finishes on Girard Ave, where most of the boutiques sit between the 7400 and 7900 blocks.

On Prospect, Lik La Jolla (1205 Prospect St) shows large-format landscape photography and stays open into the evening, Sun–Thu until 7pm and Fri–Sat until 8pm. CJ Charles Jewelers (1135 Prospect St) sells new Cartier, Omega, IWC, Panerai and Breitling watches, pre-owned Rolex with its own warranty, and estate jewelry. Closer to the cove, We Olive & Wine Bar (1158 Prospect St) pours free olive oil and vinegar tastings every day. Simple and Alpaca Collections share 1298 Prospect St: one sells relaxed European and American clothing, the other alpaca knits, leather goods and silver jewelry.

Books, Boutiques and Two Galleries

Girard is the Village's main shopping street. At the top of it, Warwick's (7812 Girard Ave), family-owned since 1896, has been in La Jolla since 1939; besides books there is a big stationery, pen and art-supply section, and author signings or talks most weeks. The Ascot Shop (7750 Girard Ave), a family-owned men's clothier open since 1950, does custom suits and tailoring on site.

The 7800 block holds most of the women's fashion: Sigi's Boutique (7888 Girard Ave) for European and American designer lines, Whiskey & Leather (7884 Girard Ave) for clothing, shoes and home goods, and Rangoni Firenze Shoes (7870 Girard Ave) for handcrafted shoes from Florence. Vuori, lululemon and the surf brand Vissla sit side by side at 7835 to 7851 Girard. Farther down, Laura Gambucci (7655 Girard Ave) carries designer fashion and handbags, and Gracie & Company (7458 Girard Ave), open for more than 30 years, is known for knits and easy California pieces.

Two galleries make the walk worth timing. Quint Gallery (7722 Girard Ave, Tue–Sat 11am–5pm) shows sculpture, painting, photography and ceramics; its Sasha Koozel Reibstein show of more than 70 handbuilt ceramic candlesticks and sculptures runs through Nov 25, 2026. Joseph Bellows Gallery (7661 Girard Ave) shows vintage and contemporary photography but keeps short hours, Tue, Wed and Fri 10am–5pm, with other days by appointment. A block off Girard, Adelaide's (919 Silverado St), a florist founded in 1936, sells arrangements, candles and home and garden pieces.

Parking and Hours

Street parking fills quickly. Paid options include the garage at 888 Prospect St and the lot at 870 Prospect St, about $6 for two hours; park once and walk. Most shops open around 10am and close between 5pm and 7pm. Lik La Jolla stays open until 7–8pm and We Olive until 8–9pm, so they make a good last stop before dinner by the cove.

Several smaller boutiques, including Laura Gambucci, Gracie & Company and Whiskey & Leather, don't post hours online, so call ahead if one of them is the reason for your trip. See the full list on our La Jolla page.
