Insider guide
Shopping Coronado.
The story
Coronado's shopping runs along Orange Ave, the island's main street, from 8th St to Ocean Blvd, plus the Coronado Ferry Landing at First St and B Ave. Expect small independent shops, a history museum's gift shop and a cluster of specialty shops inside the Hotel del Coronado at the ocean end. Arrive on the San Diego Bay Ferry from downtown to the Ferry Landing, then walk or rent a bike up Orange Ave instead of driving over the bridge.
The Ferry Landing and the Bay End
The Ferry Landing is open daily 10am–9pm. La Camisa is a long-running souvenir and clothing shop steps from the ferry dock, and Coronado Mercantile (Suite 107) is a clothing shop. Il Fornaio has been a trattoria here since 1999. Boaters can tie up free at the public dock for up to 4 hours with no reservation. Walking toward Orange Ave, Boney's Bayside Market is a neighborhood grocery for picnic supplies before the beach.
Orange Avenue
The shops start in earnest on the 800 block. Fair Trade Decor (828) sells fair-trade home decor and handmade gifts from around the world, and Coronado Vintage (859) sits near 9th St. The 900 block is the busiest: Coronado Hat Company (916), Gelato Paradiso (918), Live Nado (941, #130) for clothing, Coronado Taste of Oils (954) for olive oil and vinegar, Pretty Please (961) and Holland's Bicycles (977). Holland's sells and rents bikes, including Electra electric bikes, which is a practical way to cover the island's flat streets between the shops and the beach.
Bay Books (1007) is the anchor of the next block: an independent bookstore with new releases and classics, a large children's section, a military history section honoring the island's naval and Marine bases, stationery and gifts, and one of Southern California's biggest magazine racks, with a cafe next door. The CHA Store inside the Coronado Historical Association (1100) is the place for local-history gifts: historic photos and prints of Coronado landmarks, posters, ornaments, local-history books, military items and work by local artists. La Mer (1122) is a women's clothing boutique on the same block, and Française (1307) sells imported French goods, including French fragrance, on the way to the Hotel del.
Shops at the Hotel del Coronado
The Hotel del Coronado has its own row of specialty shops. For men, Brady's sells sportswear and shoes and Current carries relaxed coastal casual wear. Monroe does women's fashion with a classic Hollywood feel, and Weekends has beachwear and athleisure. Beachouse sells seaside home pieces, En Route luggage and leather goods for travel, Est. 1888 nostalgic keepsakes, and The Signature Shop the hotel's own apparel and gifts. Spreckels Sweets & Treats sells truffles, old-fashioned candies and gourmet chocolates.
To eat here, Serẽa Coastal Cuisine at the hotel serves oceanfront seafood such as raw oysters, lobster and Baja red snapper by the pound, and it is MICHELIN Recommended (2026). At the other end of the trip, Il Fornaio at the Ferry Landing is the easy stop before the ferry back.
When to Go
Shops generally open around 9–10am. Bay Books runs Sun–Thu 9am–6pm and Fri–Sat 9am–7pm, and the CHA Store Tue–Sun 10am–4pm, closed Mondays, so plan a Monday visit around that. Nearly every other shop here, including those inside the Hotel del Coronado, doesn't post hours, so call ahead for a specific stop. If you drive, there is street parking along Orange Ave and its side streets.
